Long, Huey Pierce Huey Pierce LongLong, Hu·ey Pierce /ˈhjuːi pɪəs $ -pɪərs/ (1893–1935) a US politician in the Democratic Party who was governor of Louisiana from 1928–31, and a US senator from 1930. He was known as the ‘Kingfish’ and was popular especially with poorer people because of his plans for social and economic changes that would help the poor.
