Potter, Dennis Dennis PotterPotter, Den·nis /ˈdenɪs/ (1935–94) a British writer of plays for television, whose many plays include Pennies from Heaven and The Singing Detective. He is generally regarded in the UK as the most important and original writer of plays for television, and his work is known especially for the way that popular songs are used as part of serious stories.
